They say one definition of genius is to make extraordinary out of the ordinary, to make something from nothing. If that is true, then certainly Tomas falls into that category.
Whether using slate and stone, string and sticks, cardboard and paper, or newsprint and wood, his design work is always technically sound and breathtakingly beautiful. His imagination seems unlimited and his philosophy of balancing masculine and feminine aspects into harmonious motifs results in floral designs of clarity and pure artistry.
I am privileged to have crossed paths with this man as he has taken my own career to new levels by his encouragement, support, teaching and friendship. In a world where mediocrity is sometimes celebrated and average is at times the norm, his brilliance in design and his genuine and honest approach to interpersonal relationships is a breath of fresh air.
Tomas is the “real deal”: as a designer, a teacher, and a friend. I encourage everyone to lose themselves in the inspiration and passion that is Tomas De Bruyne.
