Despite the presence of many internationally renowned florists, Tomas De Bruyne’s floral chandelier, an artful masterpiece, was the outspoken number 1 favorite of more than 100,000 visitors and the press at the 2016 edition of “Floralies” - the Ghent flower festival which has existed for more than 200 years. Such botanical city festivals drive to be an inspiration to the young and old alike. Tomas De Bruyne demonstrated that contemporary floral art in the unique historic setting of a baroque church can appeal to people of all ages, backgrounds and origins, while simultaneously adding special value to the city and a traditional event like the “Floralies.” May Tomas keep on inspiring future generations on the power, the beauty and the symbolic value of flowers in their varied and colorful form of representation.
