At Floraliën Gent 2016, the renowned international flower exhibition celebrating Belgium’s centuries-old floral artistry, Tomas De Bruyne transformed the historic Sint-Pieterskerk (St. Peter’s Church) into a monumental floral scenography.
Suspended beneath the church’s dome, his installation wove architecture, light, and nature into a transcendent experience — a dialogue between sacred heritage and contemporary design.
The work received five official recognitions: the Jury Prize, Audience Prize, Press Prize, the distinction of Most Photographed Installation, and the Special Award for Most Innovative Entry.
These honors collectively acknowledged Tomas’s capacity to merge imagination with structure — creating an installation that not only captured attention, but redefined how space, emotion, and beauty can coexist in harmony.
