I met Tomas in Hong Kong in 1996 when I was Consul General of Belgium and organised a big floral event in cooperation with the Ghent Floralies. At that time, Tomas was not yet internationally acclaimed as a floral artist. From the first day, I was struck by Tomas’ passion and drive for perfection in working with flowers. Tomas is now at the top of the industry, but he has not changed and remains the same person whom I met for the first time in Hong Kong 20 years ago. In the world of floral art he is always in search of new challenges and no effort is too much for him to take on, creating new daring floral constructions. His strength resides in his capacity to empathise with the client’s perception of a transitory but extraordinary floral impulse and to implement this perception in a unique floral arrangement. Tomas is very consistent in his work and I always enjoyed his proficiency and enthusiasm.
